Please read below for eligibility requirements. If you are eligible, we encourage you to fill out an application.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the Conditional Grant Program, you must be economically disadvantaged, and you must also:
- be a Texas resident eligible to work in the U.S.,
- have a minimum high school grade point average of 3.00 on a four-point scale, or
- a minimum score of 900 on the SAT or
- a minimum score of 21 on the ACT,
- plan to attend an accredited four-year Texas public college or university as a full-time student (minimum 12 semester hours),
- declare an intent to seek a four-year degree in civil engineering,
- agree to work for TxDOT for two years immediately following graduation, and
- not be more than 30 days delinquent in providing child support under a court order or written repayment plan.

Applicants must:
- Be high school seniors or graduates or be current undergraduate students
- Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited U.S. four-year college or university for the entire 2012–13 academic year (excluding proprietary and online schools)
- Plan to major in a specified course of study that focuses on Engineering/Technology or select Design and Business-related programs of study. See the list of eligible majors.
- Be interested in pursuing a career in the automotive or related industries
- Be U.S. citizens and have permanent residence in the United States
Excluded from consideration are employees and relatives of employees of Scholarship Management Services, Scholarship America and their affiliates and subcontractors, and GM Foundation Directors, Officers, and staff and their relatives. Although GM employees are not eligible, relatives of General Motors employees are eligible.

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL GRADES!! COURAGEOUS PERSUADERS SCHOLARSHIP
The Competition
Create a TV commercial targeted at middle school students to warn them about the dangers of underage drinking. Win scholarship money and trophies, have fun, and gain valuable experience. The grand prize-winning commercial will be broadcast on TV and the team that created it will work with Pluto Post and the Detroit Auto Dealers Education Foundation to upgrade their spot for air.
Open to all high school students in grades 9-12 - not only those taking video production. Winners will be selected based on ideas. And you all have great ideas.
How To Enter
High school students nationally can participate; emphasis is placed on concept and the message, not on production values. Students are encouraged to use whatever video equipment is available to them. Teachers and principals, school audio/visual departments, parent and community leaders are urged to share their equipment and lend local support by promoting the program as a very unique scholarship competition that is fun to participate in and has a powerful impact on a serious problem.
About the Competition
The Courageous Persuaders® entry deadline is February 9, 2012. Your entry must either be submitted online or postmarked by this date. Winners will be announced at the Awards Celebration in May 2012. SCHOLARSHIP Valley Telephone Cooperative Scholarship Program Accepting Student Applications for 20122012 Scholarship Application
Valley Telephone Cooperative has initiated a college scholarship program and is now taking applications for 2012 scholarships.
Valley Telephone Cooperative, Inc will award up to 10 scholarships of $2,000 annually to the children of Valley Telephone Cooperative members pursuing undergraduate study at accredited colleges and universities. There will be a maximum of one scholarship awarded in each of Valley Telephone's 10 voting districts. Awards are renewable up to three additional years or until a bachelor's degree is earned, whichever occurs first, based on recipients maintaining residency requirements, satisfactory academic (2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale) and full-time enrollment status at an accredited 2 or 4 year college or university. The renewal award amount will be increased by $250 each year if the student maintains 3.0 GPA or better in the prior year of college. Students may transfer to another accredited institution without penalty of losing their awards.
Applications should be sent to Scholarship America, the organization that administers the scholarship program, including selecting the scholarship recipients. The application deadline is March 16, 2012 for the 2012 program.

- Be a dependent child (as defined in IRS publication 501 at www.irs.gov) of a current member of Valley Telephone Cooperative who resides in the Valley Telephone service territory, and who has been a member of the Cooperative for at least one year as of the application deadline date

- Two (2) $1000 College Scholarships will be awarded. They shall be made payable to the accredited college, university or other institution of higher learning as designated by the winners, in care of the individual winner, and are intended for use during the 2012/2013 school year.
